Apart from showing off the fact that my roots are in dire need of attention, I wanted to share with you a nifty new tool I have been using to create some volume and life to my tresses. The saying is true, you always want what you don’t have and being a girl with naturally straight hair means I am forever lusting over curls and texture. I’ve never been overly fussed with styling my hair on a daily basis but a recent TONI&GUY Hair Meets Wardrobe challenge has inspired me to create a signature style using one of the TONI&GUY’s hair tools.
The tool in question is the TONI&GUY Glamour Jumbo Tong which you can use to achieve a, you guessed it, glamour look. From Disco Diva to the Bridgette and even Great Gatsby, this wide 38mm barrel wand helps to to achieve volume and waves all in one go. Even on a short cut like mine you can create soft waves or a more defined curl depending on which signature style you wish to achieve. I used the tong to create a soft and glamours wave which I brushed out to give a more natural finish. To start off I sectioned my hair in two and applied a spritz of the Electric Preparation Spray*. This not only helped to protect my hair but it also helps to hold the style afterwards.
I clasped my hair within the tong and twisted the hair around the barrel and away from my face. The tong heats up to 180 degrees and it has a cool section at the bottom which you can hold whilst styling. As you can see from the pictures you are able to create soft and loose curls with lots of volume at the root. By curling away from your head I find my hair is lifted thus giving me more oomph and lift where I need it. The only thing I think I need to perfect is where the hair has been clasped as it can look a bit crisp and jagged. Apart from that I love the curls you are able to achieve with these tongs and think they create a great everyday glamour style.
