Weekend Makeup for a Sunny Day

weekend makeup

When it comes to the weekend, the last thing I want to be doing is faffing around with makeup. I know, I love the stuff but when I have these two blissful days off (away from the office) I would rather keep things simple and paired back. This usually results in my standard no makeup, makeup look which I’ve shared before over here and here. The key thing we have different today is that the sun is out *rejoice!* That means I reach for products that still don’t require any fuss, however give me that hint of colour and warmth to my complexion to complement the glorious sunshine outside.

Base – to switch things up I’ve recently been gravitating towards the Burberry Skin Fresh Glow BB Cream in the shade Fair 01. This stuff brings the glow and you need a small amount which I blend in using my fingers to leave my complexion looking fresh and feeling natural. There is also SPF 20 inside so if you do find yourself in the middle of a sun trap in the pub garden you are covered! For any areas of redness that still poke through I grab my trusty Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer.

Colour – at the weekends I forgo powder so instead I’m jumping straight into bronzer and blush. For bronzer it has to be my new Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in Sun Kissed. Not only is the packaging palm tree heaven, it also dishes out the most gorgeous bronzy glow that leaves any complexion looking healthy and revitalised. With blush I keep things simple opting for the Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Stick Face in Coral Glow. Every time I use this I am left amazed by how much colour and life it brings to my skin. Not only that, it’s a doddle to apply!

Eyes – for that one wash shadow that can even be applied with your finger, it’s time to bring back the Burberry Eyes Eye Colour in Pale Barley. I already have quite an impressive dent going on in the pan as it is one of my most reached for shadows for an everyday taupey wash of colour that really complements my hazel eyes. To finish things off I’ve recently been loving the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 mascara that we can pick up over at QVC. This is only a mini but I can see me picking up the full size soon as I’ve fallen for it’s fluttery finish it gives to my lashes.

What are you weekend makeup staples when the sun is shining? Do you opt for a bold lippy or keep things simple like me with a balm?
