Best of Nails, Tool ETC – 2015

tools, brushes etc favourites 2015

Even when you are a full blown beauty addict it can be easy to fall into a set routine. Those same products you love day in and day out become habit and shaking them isn’t always that easy. 2015 was the year I aimed to try out a few new tools and polishes to change up that norm. Nothing overly drastic, didn’t want to cause a shock to the system ha but it resulted in me finding some true gems…

During 2015 I shook up my brush game. Real Techniques burst onto the scene a year previous so naturally everything I used was from that budget mecca. In a bid to switch things up I started off over in the eye shadow department. Picking up the Bobbi Brown Eye Blender Brush and the Louise Young Domed Shadow Brush, one blends out the shadow whilst the other packs that colour on. A year down the line these are still my go to daily brushes, the perfect pair to create a fuss free look. After my friends bridal makeup trial I purchased the almighty Kevyn Aucoin Foundation Brush. Warning, the price tag will make you weep but honestly this is the only foundation brush I’ve used since. Blending out your base within seconds to leave a flawless finish behind, it’s worth every penny.

For nails there was only one polish that captured my heart and short attention span and that was the Essie Nail Polish in Blossom Dandy. The perfect minty blue hue, it is utterly divine on the nails and was pretty much the only polish I put on when I was sans shellac. One sneaky addition is from a product I actually got in my December advent calendar, I know how can this already be a 2015 favourite? You see the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Magic Rejuvenating Smoothing Propolis Balm is perfection. I’m a fussy one when it comes to lip balms and this is just right. Although it would be nice in a tube not tub, it coats my lips without feeling sticky and keeps them nourished in this dry, cold season.

Lastly I’ve gotta give a shout out to the This Works Deep Pillow Spray. A true essential throughout 2015 this helped me drift off during crunch time at work, kept me sane throughout a massive move and ensured those sweet dreams kept coming. A total princess product on first impressions however after one use I bet you’ll be hooked too.
