In a bid to ‘drugstore up’ my makeup collection I went on a little spree the other week with the sole purpose being mascaras. Wanting to tryout the newbies and see how they faired up in comparison to my all time favourites, it was time to put them to test and see what came out on top. I’m not overly fussy when it comes to mascara – with naturally long lashes I go for volume enhancers as opposed to lengtheners, therefore I like to switch up what I’m using to see how voluminous I can make those lashes go. Time to get testing!

Maybelline – housed in a baby doll pink tube the Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara promises to coat each individual lash so they are left looking luscious and full for only £5.99. Kicking things off on a positive note, out of the three pictured above I would have to call this my golden star. Helping to bulk out the flutter this gives volume and length all without drying up or going clumpy. One of the cheapest I found this gets two big thumbs up from me.

L’Oreal – although this isn’t a brand spanking new launch it’s one of the most recent mascaras to hit the L’Oreal counters. Miss Manga holds a slightly heftier price tag of £8.99 and initially would have been my top pick, that was until the weeks went by and the dry out begun. Such a shame as the brush and formulation worked wonders on my lashes but now I have to fight to get product out. Not something I wish to do on a daily occurrence!

Rimmel – the brand that I go to for all my shadow, liner and mascara needs this is one of the first times I’ve felt really let down by Rimmel. Their Wonder’full Mascara may only be £5.99 but even at that price tag I don’t think it’s worth it. Marketed to condition your lashes with feather-light volume this didn’t give lift, length or any va va voom. Instead I felt that my lashes looked short and stumpy even though the brush looked to be oh so promising. Rimmel, call this a dud and fingers crossed the next mascara launch storms the market!

  • Ooh they all sound lovely! So many great budget mascaras around at the moment :)

  • I love Miss Manga, but it definitely did dry out a bit quicker than expected. I like the sound of the Maybelline one!

  • I just got the sensational mascara and I really like it so far. xox

  • Miss Manga is becoming my favorite mascara from the drugstore :) Great post!

  • I’ve tried Miss Manga but find it just okay, I need to try that Maybelline mascara, hopefully it’ll work on my stick straight and sparse lashes. xx

    Shireen | Reflection of Sanity

    • Maybelline should work better on your Miss Manga was great on my lashes – before it dried out!xx

  • Camilla

I’ve been wanting to try out the Miss Manga since it came out, but I’m definitely not gonna pick it up based on this review. Maybe I should try out the one from Maybelline instead (:

  • Maybelline one looks so nice! I have recently started testing a Maybelline one and am not that impressed so shall give this a go for sure! xoxo

  • I wish i can use maybelline but it doesn’t like me, it flakes horribly on me and than it gets in my eyes and it’s not a happy day lol. My go to mascara’s from drug store are Cover girls Flammed out in original and volume and loreal’s collagen extra volume

    • Oh no thats such a shame! Luckily there are other drugstore mascaras that still work for you :) xx

  • Ella

The Maybelline one looks beautiful! They’re my favorite brand for mascara, for sure. I swear by The Falsies!

    • You know what I have still never tried that one! Must do it some day haha xx

      • I agree, The Falsies is one of the best mascaras ever! You need to try it!

  • Madison Victoria x

    Thank you xx

  • Ah, too bad, I was curious about the “argan oil” formula of the Rimmel mascara. Great review.

    • Yeah it’s a shame as I thought it would help to really condition my lashes but it did nothing!xx

  • lauren_loves

Loved the review – I would have picked up the Rimmel based on the brush for sure. Hitting up Maybelline this week! I still can’t go past Kevyn Aucoin but it’s a bit pricey to always use…

  • Karii Zenteno

Loved the review; I dont know why but im not even slightly interested n the miss manga mascara :/ Really like the tube of the Lash sensational and i’m sad to hear about Rimmels option (especially since I love argan anything), really like their lash accelerator serum and really want to try a mascara made by them! x

  • I dried both Miss Manga and The Rimmel Wonder’Lash. I actually like the L’Oreal quite a lot. Now the Rimmel…it’s awful. It gives me no volume and no length and I feel like the brush is too big as well! What other drugstore mascaras do you like?

    • My all time favourite (drugstore and high end) is the L’Oreal Mega Volume Collagene Mascara!xx

  • Charline Steuckers

I bought the maybelline one recently. Not too shure about it yet, I don’t like plastic wands that much…

I swear by my Maybelline The Falsies mascara ;)

    Love, Charline

  • It’s nice to see how you describe the 3 mascaras I was wondering about the Rimmel one as it seemed to be great :/ a shame it isn’t! I’ve been dying to try the Miss Manga for a long time but now that you hype the Maybelline one it will be my 1st pick! :) xx

    Mary Bloomy

  • I really want to try that Maybelline one after seeing a tonne of great reviews, I think I’ll go and pick it up tomorrow! This is such an awesome post, thanks for the comparisons! :)

    Sarah / Sarah Smiles

  • That’s such a shame about the Rimmel one, I was just about to go out and buy it, so i’m so glad i read this. I’ll definitely be getting the Maybelline instead.
