for the past couple of weeks i have been trying out this contraption. it is the amplify jumbo waver from enrapture. as you all know i am not the biggest lover of my poker straight hair, however i am also not a fan of having to faff with my hair in the morning. anything that is able to add a bit of movement/volume/style to my hair quickly and easily is a winner for me. i was interested to see how this styler would fair up against my *ahum* demands and whether a quick simple style could be achieved.

upon first impressions this styler looks rather daunting! the 25mm barrels look rather scary but it is their size that helps to create big s waves. it is also the only waver on the market that has barrels this big. the above picture shows the styler extended fully. obviously you won’t need it this big but it means its easy to open and clamp onto your hair.

the styler comes with a clasp to close the waver which makes it a lot easier to store and there is also a dial where you can adjust the temperature the styler heats up to. there is an on/off switch but as im used to using ghd’s i did miss the helpful beep to let me know that the styler had heated up. the handle is pretty standard however i found after getting just over halfway with my hair my hand did begin to ache.onto styling!

well hello overly naturally straight hair! i sectioned my hair into two and popped the top section into a clip expertly placed on top of my head. sectioning my hair helped to style my hair quicker as i didn’t have massive sections to work with.

i clamped the styler onto a small section of hair, held it for a few seconds and then repeated this down the section of hair. i found i had to do about 3 clamps for each small section. it seems like a lot but you don’t need to hold the styler in place for very long to create the desired effect.

finished look! as you can see the waves are quite defined but as my hair struggles to hold styles i like to ensure its very defined initially so that it drops out to a softer wave. i love the finished look this styler gives and i love the wave as opposed to standard soft kardashian curls – it creates something a little bit different. i usually use the styler after i’ve washed my hair and then each morning i quickly go over my hair with the styler to add a bit more definition.

the enrapture amplify jumbo waver retails for £74.99 and can be bought from debenhams, john lewis, selfridges, ASOS and boots. although personally i think this is quite pricey for a styler knowing how much i have already used it makes the price more worthwhile to me. i love the shape this creates and find that if you hold the styler closer to the root it creates a very voluminous lift. perfection!

have you tried this styler or something similar before? are you going to be sporting soft beachy waves for spring/summer?

  • not sure whether i like that effect on your hair, i think soft curls would suit you just a lot better! also you have to work to detail so that the wave is really even :( try the totem styler! much better :)
