Whether I’m out & about with my handbag, have a clutch in toe, carrying my backpack when travelling or simply transporting around a couple of essentials, the one thing I’ll always have is powder. Call it years of fighting an oily complexion that resulted in my younger self layering up the matte foundations, it’s my just in case makeup product that you’ll rarely find me without. When it comes to picking a powder to trust with any daily oil outbreaks it needs to be something that’s finely milled, gives a hint of coverage without the cake and that works.

Over the years my powder of choice has changed, you see it isn’t one I would reach for during my daily makeup routine as instead I’m looking for something that packs a bit more of a punch in the coverage department. If my concealer has disappeared, my blush given up or my eyes are looking tired, I want a one stop ‘does it all’ powder that I know can trust. Recently this has been the bareMinerals Bare Pro Performance Wear Powder Foundation that I wear in the shade 09 Light Natural*. Although this has the word foundation in the name, you get a flawless coverage with that fab bareMinerals mineral formula that is breathable on the skin but stays in place.

Layer this up and you’ll get that fuller coverage finish however dusted over any areas that are appearing a tad oily and this will instantly brush it away leaving a satin finish behind that doesn’t look like you’ve gone in with a bucket full of powder. What I also love is the Core Coverage Brush*. Not only is this the perfect travel sized companion thanks to it’s retractable lid, it is designed with a tightly packed fibre core alongside softer outer fibres to give a soft and smooth finish. Yes you get a sponge in the bottom of the powder which I’ll reach for in emergencies but will all know a brush is better ;)

Do you carry around a powder with you in case of any makeup emergencies? Which are you favourites to use?

  • I am not one who usually uses powdered products! Thanks for the review

    • I tend not to reach for them in the morning but find it essential having one on standby throughout the day!xx

  • I’m not a huge powder girl as most of them tend to dry my skin out or highlight my dry patches, but this one sounds different, oddly enough, I tend to find foundation powders less drying than the ones I use on top of foundation. Love the idea of a satin finish in a powder as well!

    • I find that the satin finish gives a natural glow to my skin without looking dry or still oily!xx

  • I asked the Beauty Consultant about this foundation because to me it sounds like the Ready foundation they already sell (one of my favourites) and the only difference between the two is the Ready foundation has an SPF 30 whereas the Bare Pro has no SPF so it photographs better. I prefer SPF in my foundations tbh but I also think the Bare Pro might be a bit more pigmented, what do you think? Have you tried the Ready foundation? Great review xxx

    • I haven’t tried the Ready Foundation unfortunately so am not able to compare! I have found with this one however it does photograph really well and stays in place throughout the day xx

  • Yes, I always have mattifying powder with me, always a loose one.
