Post Clearout: What Remained

makeup stash rediscoveries

Over the past month like the majority of people in the beauty world I’ve been focused on spring cleaning my makeup stash. You would have seen this post -> ‘Makeup Spring Clean’ where I gave you a sneak peek of the products I was donating to a new loving home alongside this video -> Wear Your Makeup Challenge’ where I shared a fun little challenge to really test those products you’ve been holding on to. It can be so easy to be consumed by all of the things that you forget how little you actually use day to day. Although my stash is still pretty big I thought I’d share with you some of my fave products I’ve rediscovered & fallen back in love with during the spring cleaning process.

NARS Sheer Glow. I know – how has it taken me this long?! A cult foundation I actually picked this bottle up a couple of years ago whilst on holiday in Vegas. Unfortunately, once returning home I realised in the sales assistants haste to match my ‘true’ colour instead of my ‘slightly burnt red faced’ colour I actually had a shade that was far too light. Every time I gave it a go Mont Blanc instantly washed me out meaning I never gave this foundation the time of day it deserved. When I came across it sat at the back of my foundation drawer looking sad and alone I was determined to finally use it, mixing it with a liquid bronzer to add that warmth my complexion craves. Needless to say I love it and I will definitely be picking up a better shade when I’m next away.

Oh MAC Stereo Rose. Who remembers this beauty?! A limited edition MAC Mineralise Skinfinish that caused a huge buzz in the beauty world when it was initially launched. Mine was picked up in a blogger sale and I loved it so much I actually snapped up a backup during its relaunch. Funnily enough I haven’t got round to needing that backup however finding it at the back of my drawer reminded me how much I once held for this blusher/highligher combo. A tad shimmery for my liking now however you can’t deny the gorgeous vitality it adds to any complexion. Come Summer I know this is going to be making a strong reappearance!

Since my much loved Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Concealer ran out I’ve been reaching for my concealer stash to see what might compare. I purchased the Charlotte Tilbury Retoucher at a similar time but it remained in the shadows until now. Although I find this doesn’t provide the same coverage or hydrating properties that the UD concealer does, I have found this to be the perfect ‘on the go’ product. It doesn’t sit heavy when applied over makeup, it blends a dream with a brush or fingers and the shade 2 Fair is a fab match.

Finally the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette*. If you’re looking for mattes, love neutrals and want something you can travel with, this will tick every box. With six wearable shades you can create a number of different looks that are effortless whether it’s daytime or night. Although the shades looks quite basic you’ll be surprised with the range that can be achieved. Buttery matte shadows that blend a treat, this is a staple palette that leaves me itching to pickup the second one!
