At Home Laser

Have you lasered? I’m talking in a salon, at home, have you ever used a laser when it comes to hair removal? Personally I’m not an overly hairy gal. Yes it appears in areas I would rather it didn’t like it does for most but I’ve never opted for laser when it comes to hair removal. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always been intrigued. Knowing I’d never have to shave again is quite a blissful thought. Wanna rock that dress come weekend? Go for it! Fancy a pair of shorts in summer but haven’t had a chance to preen & prune, don’t worry those once hairy knees are now a thing of the past. Due to the fact I don’t fall into the overly hairy bracket I’ve become accustomed to my daily hair removal routine previously snubbing laser for being that cost I would never invest in. However, what if it became that bit more accessible? Would you suddenly jump at the chance to permanently remove that unwanted hair?

The reason I ask is now you can undertake laser hair removal in the comfort of your own home. Something that I’ve been giving a whirl for the past 3 months, all you have to do is switch on the device, decide where you want to start and away you go! Not just that, you get to be in the driving seat of what you remove all without the need to bare your bits for a stranger. Technology for these devices are vastly improving, although still carrying a high price tag, they do come with the promise of being hair free in as little as 6 sessions. I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to try out the Iluminage Touch*. A device that combines IPL & RF technology to be safe and effective on all skin colours.

Onto the technical jargon, Intense Pulsed Light and Radio Frequency delivers permanent hair reduction over the period of 7 sessions within 6 weeks. You don’t get miracles overnight however after three sessions the hairs on my leg were noticeably more sparse resulting in minimal upkeep during the week. The device itself is easy to use, simply switch on, select your desired heat setting and begin. Legs take as little as 10 minutes, underarms 1 and bikini are 2 minutes, not just that you don’t need to faff with prepping the area or having to wait long for the device to be ready. Worried about that pain factor? Don’t be as the entire process is completely painless. The Iluminage Touch* emits a bright light that works to remove unwanted hair, the only thing you feel on your skin is the heat. If you are someone who isn’t a fan of pain or can be a tad squeamish, you don’t need to worry here.

Final thoughts – would I have bought this device myself? Probably not but that is less down to the price and more down to the fact I was so sceptical as to whether this would actually work. If I had a friend who used this or seen other people document the fab results they experienced, I’ve gotta admit I would be tempted. Knowing that you could avoid ingrown hairs, cuts on the back of your leg and the struggle of shaving in a shower, the device does become incredibly appealing. If you battle with unwanted hair, want a permanent solution from the comfort of your own home, I highly recommend taking a look at the Iluminage Touch*.

What do you think – would you be tempted to pick one up? Have you ever invested in laser hair removal before or has it ever been something you wanted to try out? I’ve gotta say already I’m pretty hooked and loving the results!

  • I’ve been considering getting one of these for ages – the only thing putting me off, to be honest, is that I actually quite like the exfoliation of shaving my legs! Whatever scrubs and stuff I use after epilating, they’re never as smooth as after a razor.

    • With this device you shave your legs beforehand but then means less hair grows back afterwards xx

  • I epilate my legs and wax the other areas but I would love to try laser. It is definitively a good thing to have at home alternative Xx

    • It means you limit the cost, have the ability to have the sessions in the privacy of your own home and also choose when to have it done!xx
