La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo – £13 | Maybelline Forever Strong Nail Varnish in Mint for Life and Hot Salsa- £4.09

Why is it that when you pop into the shops solely for one item you return home with a lot more then you bargained for? This happened recently in Boots but hey, I’m not complaining ;) The source of my trip was to pick up another La Roche Posay Effalcar Duo. I have whizzed through my first bottle and love the stuff, since incorporating it into my skincare routine the little bumps on my forehead have vanished and overall the quality of my skin has vastly improved. Initially I was a little perplexed as to when to apply this treatment but what works best for me is popping it on before my moisturiser in the mornings. Sometimes with hyped products it’s hard to really know if it will have the same effect for you as it does for everyone else. Your skin and skincare needs are individual to you so I’d say if you have similar problems to someone, give their recommendation a go but keep in mind to try it out with a small application first as the results may differ. This is what I do so I can spot any nasty reactions early on.

The two extra items that managed to wangle their way into my shopping bags unexpectedly were the Maybelline Forever Strong Nail Varnishes. I have already picked up (and raved about) the Rimmel Salon Pro Nail Polishes so wanted to see how the Maybelline counterparts would fair up. Offering a claim of a seven day manicure, compared to Rimmel’s bold 10 days, these still pack a punch when it comes to remaining chip less on my nails.

I opted for the shades Mint for Life and Hot Salsa but unfortunately there were not many other colours in the range that stood out to me. Mint for Life is thee perfect minty green shade and I am obsessed, not that I need to add anymore to my collection. This seems to be my favourite colour to paint onto my nails and this one might just have pipped the post to be my top pick. Hot Salsa is a luscious pinky red toned colour that adds a pop of brightness to a Summer nail. Similarly to the Rimmel polishes they do not last the entire claimed anti chip time, however I do get a good 4-5 days chip free which I still think is pretty darn impressive.

Have you tried out these nail varnishes yet? What are your verdicts on their anti-chip claims?

I love LRP’s effaclar duo! It’s an amazing moisturizer, and especially handy for random breakouts.

Effaclar Duo is the best product I have tried so far. It completely changed my skin!

  • They chipped to easily on my nails :(, xoxo.

    • Oh no that’s such a shame! I find I still have to use a base coat and top coat to ensure they stay put xx
