The Sunday Share – Retro Skating

On Friday the first of the Christmas socials began. I donned my glitter antlers from Accessorize and Rudolph jumper complete with light up nose and headed down to the Southbank with my Production team from work.  The reason why we were venturing down to the river wasn’t just for their incredible market stalls, complete with grilled cheese stand and Rekorderlig cider tent, we were going to skate. Roller skate.

Bump are a Bristol based company that have jumped shipped over to the Southbank for the festive season. Head towards Hungerford Bridge and underneath you will find disco lights, glittery skates and a whole host of retro fun. Now I must admit, I am no professional when it comes to skating. I’m impressed I even managed to get myself up off the bench whilst my skates were on! Luckily though for any noobs the dance floor is filled with Bump teachers to help out those who are less knowledgable on the rink.

On Friday they had a DJ session running the decks (#coolalert) which meant even whilst holding onto the edge for dear life you could bust out a few moves. Outside there are sofas to sit and watch the mayhem unfolding inside, or for those who need a little dutch courage there is the mirror ball bar serving up winter cocktails and mulled cider.

If you are looking for an alternative festive treat or just simple want to skate away your weekend I highly recommend heading down to the Southbank and the Bump popup roller disco.
